Editorial and data methodology

The production directory snapshot comes from ECDA’s Listing of Centres dataset on data.gov.sg, dataset ID d_696c994c50745b079b3684f0e90ffc53. The dataset describes active childcare centres and kindergartens and is offered under the Singapore Open Data Licence.

We retain stable, useful fields: centre and operator names, service model, address, postal code, official contact details, programme-level applicability, second languages, operating hours, scheme, selected ECDA yes/no fields, food information and each record’s source update date.

A public listing requires a stable centre code, name, six-digit postal code, address and record date. This snapshot received 1,870 rows and excludes 78 that did not meet those minimums.

• Programme levels: inferred only when ECDA marks that stage as applicable. We discard the accompanying Available, Limited or Full value.
• Regions and postal areas: derived from the first two postal-code digits for easier browsing. They are not official URA planning boundaries.
• Names and addresses: spacing and capitalisation are normalised for readability without adding promotional copy.
• Web links: bare domains receive a protocol so they can be opened safely; the source value is otherwise not editorially embellished.

Every listing shows the source record’s own update date, while the site also records when the full dataset snapshot was fetched. Records older than six months receive an additional confirmation warning. A date means the source row changed or was dated then; it does not mean Preschools.sg telephoned the centre that day.

The refresh command is reproducible: pnpm data:import, followed by pnpm data:validate and a reviewed release.

Corrections, new listings and claims enter a human-review queue. Public submissions cannot directly alter a listing or assign ownership. Evidence is checked against ECDA, the centre’s official site or another authoritative source.

We do not rank centres, publish reviews, infer teaching quality, copy competitor descriptions, manufacture fees, claim vacancies, or treat a source gap as a negative fact. SPARK, scheme and subsidy fields are presented exactly as source attributes and never converted into scores or recommendations.
